  • John Campbell
Fr Oliver Writes "John Campbell died at the age of 94.  He was not an OD but he taught French and Spanish (mainly Spanish) in the school for 25 years from 1962-87. He was also a parishioner of St Bernadette's, Pangbourne which is served from the Abbey. He would have taught many ODs. He was always very pleased when any of them went on to read Spanish at university.  His nickname was "Jock", probably because the schoolboys of the day who mainly came from the South with its "Received Pronunciation" could not distinguish from a Scottish accent and that of John's which revealed his origins in the North-East."
